This is the “Big Daddy” of the blood borne pathogen course, offered exclusively by the APT. It is six hours of continuing education. It covers Microbiology for the Tattooist, Disease and Immunization, Sterilization and Disinfection and the Blood Borne Pathogens Standards. This Course has been developed by APT for tattooists by tattooists and has become the industry standard. This course is updated as information becomes available and contains the most current and relevant information pertaining to safety in the tattoo shop. It is also a requirement to maintain professional membership in the APT. Pre-registration is recommended. Contact the Home Office at (407) 831-5549.

Oral Seminar: Shop talk, what gets said during the course of a consultation, how to handle your crew in front of customers or behind closed doors.

Emphasis: This is an oral seminar and discussion group on how to handle sticky situations with your employees and customers. This seminar will address situational awareness and how to keep shop politics in perspective.

Qualifications:  Rob Massamiano has been tattooing since 1987. Apprenticed by his brother, Ed Massamiano, he was influenced by notable tattoo artists such as Brian Everett, Jack Rudy, Dick Warsoki and many others. Rob Has won many awards for his tattoo work as well as his work in Illustration Art. He has been a member of the APT since it’s inception in 1992. He is member 39P.

The Rice Paper Stencil

This seminar is a demonstration of how to utilize the Rice Paper Stencil. This technique allows the artist to apply full back pieces, sleeves and rib pieces in one shot. This enables the artist to draw the piece all at once and allows the artist to more accurately plan those big pieces and transfer the complete design to the skin. This technique was taught to Shahn 20 years ago by the late great Sailor Moses and has become a lost art.
